1. Plate checks
For R15 per province we check whether a combination is registered to a vehicle and email you the result. A check is a snapshot, not a reservation. A plate can be held on a PRN certificate without being fitted to a car, and won't show up in a check, so your licensing department has the final say.
If you pay and don't get a result, email us and we'll rerun the check or refund you. We don't refund a result that was delivered correctly.
2. Top plates
Top plates shows public posts on X that tag @checkplata or that someone adds by link on our site, ranked by likes on X. By entering a post, you confirm you own the car or have permission to share it. Each plate appears once, first come, first served, and we decide what goes on the board. Ask and we'll take a post down.
3. Fair use
Don't misuse the service, misrepresent who owns a plate, or run automated checks. We can refuse service or remove content if you do.
4. Liability
We depend on third parties for lookups, payments and email, and can't promise the service will always be available. As far as the law allows, our liability is limited to what you paid us for the service in question. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
5. The rest
We may update these terms, and the version on this page applies. South African law governs them.
